While reading Sharon Draper's Out of My Mind I wonder why Melody has Cerebral Palsy. I know that we went over it in class, but I still don't understand why that has to happen. I don't understand why God would choose to do that to someone; why he would choose to make it where someone can't walk or talk. However, I know God gave her the ability to think. Thinking is important. I know Melody is a character in a book, but I also know there are many people that suffer from Cerebral Palsy just like she does.
I wonder why the doctor, Dr. Hugely, would suggest that Melody's mother put her in a home so she and her husband, "can get on with your lives without her as a burden." pg. 25 I don't understand how he could say this to Melody's mother. How could he think that Melody's mother or anyone's mother would be okay with just sending their child away.
