This week I read more from Out of my Mind by Sharon M. Draper. In this chapter, Mr. Dimmings, the social studies teacher, gave the class a test to test their knowledge and see whether or not they could be part of the Quiz Bowl Team. Everyone did well, but Melody was the only one to get all of the questions correct. Instead of being excited for Melody, Mr. Dimmings said, " ' If Melody Brooks can win the first round, then my questions must not be difficult enough!' " pg. 155
This made me feel hurt because I know how that feels. When I read this, I felt bad for Melody because she deserved praise for her good work. I don't think it was right for Mr. Dimmings to make that comment.
